Some websites also include links in the sidebar or footer. However, these links tend to be lower in the hierarchical scale if a main navigation menu is present.
Navigation menu can include more than simple text links. Depending on the design, you can have fixed navigation or elements that open up to reveal additional links when you mouse over them.
