Plausible pricing works in traffic tiers. Once a Starter site stays above 1 million pageviews, Plausible asks it to move to the 2 million tier at $89, and Fathom sells its tiers the same way. Umami Cloud bills by the event instead, so a busy month costs a few dollars more rather than a whole tier.
What each service charges at five traffic levels
The bills below are our arithmetic on the three pricing pages, read on Oct 15, 2026 as a US visitor. They're list prices for a new sign-up, so an older Plausible account can pay less than its row. One long-time customer pays $12 a month on a deal that would cost $29 today. Each row except the agency one assumes one website, pageviews only, monthly billing in US dollars before tax, and the cheapest plan that covers the traffic. Plausible gets a range, because its plans share the same pageview tiers at three prices. Starter covers one site, and Business adds funnels, custom properties and up to 10 sites.
| Monthly traffic | Plausible | Fathom | Umami Cloud | Stack 8, Umami preinstalled |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200,000 pageviews | $29 to $59 | $25 | $20 (Pro) | $13.99/mofor 3 months, then $21.99/mo |
| 500,000 pageviews | $49 to $99 | $45 | $20 (Pro) | |
| 1 million pageviews | $69 to $139 | $60 | $20 (Pro) | |
| 5 million pageviews | $129 to $259 | $140 | $140 (Pro) | |
| 10 million pageviews | $169 to $339 | $200 | $200 (Business) | |
| Agency: 20 sites, 2 million pageviews | $278 (2 Business teams) | $100 | $50 (Pro) |

Umami Cloud Pro includes 1 million events for $20, and it's $0.00003 for each one after that. At 5 million pageviews that's $20 plus 4 million extra events, or $140. At 10 million, Pro would come to $290, so Business is cheaper there at $200, with 10 million events included.
The agency row is 20 client sites at 100,000 pageviews each. Plausible bills per team, and Business stops at 10 sites unless you ask for an Enterprise quote. So the agency runs two Business teams of 10 sites at $139 each, for 1 million pageviews per team, or puts every client on its own Starter team at $19, which comes to $380. Fathom includes 100 sites at 2 million pageviews. One $100 plan covers them all. Umami Cloud Pro covers up to 20 websites. The extra million events add $30, for $50 in all.
Paying yearly helps if you're on Plausible or Fathom. Both charge 10 months for 12, so at 1 million pageviews Plausible comes to $57.50 to $115.83 a month and Fathom to $50. Umami Cloud doesn't publish a yearly price.
How each one counts usage
The rows above count pageviews only. Once you track custom events, the three bills grow at different rates.
| Plausible | Fathom | Umami Cloud | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What counts toward the limit | Pageviews and custom events, across every site in the team | Pageviews and custom events, across all your sites | Pageviews, custom events and each stored event property |
| Sites included | 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, 10 on Business | 50 to 200 by tier, then $10 a month for each 50 more | 1 on Hobby, 20 on Pro, unlimited on Business |
| Over the limit | Upgrade asked after two months over, dashboards locked a week later | Email first, dashboards paused only if you stay well over | Each extra event billed on Pro and Business, no rate published for Hobby |
| Data kept | 3 years, or 5 on Business | Full history while you subscribe | 6 months on Hobby, 2 years on Pro, 5 years on Business |
| Yearly billing | 10 months' price for 12 | 10 months' price for 12 | Monthly only |
Plausible and Fathom don't charge for a one-off spike. A single month over your tier costs nothing extra on Plausible, and Fathom won't switch your analytics off for occasional traffic jumps. On Umami Cloud Pro a spike shows up on that month's bill, at $3 for every 100,000 extra events.
What the server price leaves out
The server line in the bill table doesn't move between 200,000 pageviews and 10 million, because self-hosted Umami has no event meter and the server's bandwidth isn't metered. Adding sites or storing more properties per event doesn't change it either. Self-hosted Umami also includes the session replay and heatmaps that Umami Cloud keeps for its $200 Business plan, and it keeps your analytics until you delete them. Replays are the exception, since Umami stores those for 30 days.
- Updates. Your server ships with Umami 3.2.0 pinned, and it won't change until you run
umami-update. Umami has shipped three releases since then, so update first. Our GA4 switch guide has the backup-then-update steps. - Backups. Your accounts, sites and events all live in one PostgreSQL database on the server's disk.
- Email reports. They're cloud-only, along with Umami's streaming API.
- Support for the app. DreamHost's 24/7 support covers the hardware, the network and connectivity. Umami itself and its settings are yours.
Umami doesn't publish a RAM or CPU figure, and its install page asks for PostgreSQL 12.14 or newer. Its 3.1.0 release notes raised Node.js to 22. Our own test run on a 2 vCPU, 4 GB test machine (not a DreamHost server) found memory isn't the limit: 30,000 pageviews left Umami at about 300 MiB. What the run tells a bill is disk. The database grew about 1 KB a pageview, so at 10 million pageviews a month it adds roughly 120 GB in a year. Our events were synthetic, and real ones with longer URLs and custom properties may weigh more.
The plan pick is DreamHost guidance. Stack 4 suits one or a few small sites. From about a million pageviews, or for an agency's client sites, Stack 8 is our pick. It's the plan we label for apps in production, and its 150 GB of NVMe storage is double Stack 4's, for a database that keeps every event. At the busiest row in the table, a year of events fills most of Stack 8's disk, so run df -h now and then and clear old data or move up a plan before it runs out. DreamHost lets you move up a plan later. Moving to a smaller plan isn't supported.
Where the server starts paying off
On the bill alone, the server costs less than Plausible and Fathom from their 200,000-pageview tiers ($29 and $25) upward. It's harder against Umami Cloud. Pro at $20 stays below the server's renewal price until about 1.07 million events a month. Every crossover here uses Stack 8's renewal price. Stack 4 renews for less, so on Stack 4 each one comes at the same point or sooner.
Your own time changes that, and we've assumed one to two hours of upkeep a month. Umami shipped 12 releases in the 12 months to Oct 15, 2026, so plan on about one update a month: a backup, a copy off the server, umami-update and a look at the dashboard afterward. Swap in your own hours if you know them. The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts 2025 median pay for software developers, QA analysts and testers at $64.44 an hour. Add one to two of those hours to the server's renewal price, and the server costs less than any analytics bill above about $86 to $151 a month.
| Service and plan | Clears $86 at | Clears $151 at |
|---|---|---|
| Plausible Business | 500,000 pageviews ($99) | 2 million pageviews ($179) |
| Plausible Starter | 2 million pageviews ($89) | 10 million pageviews ($169) |
| Fathom | 2 million pageviews ($100) | 10 million pageviews ($200) |
| Umami Cloud Pro | About 3.2 million events | About 5.4 million events |
Below about 3 million events, the server's case against Umami Cloud Pro rests on other things: replays and heatmaps without the Business plan, history with no expiry date, and no bill that moves with your traffic.
Staying, switching or running your own
Your Plausible or Fathom history won't follow you to self-hosted Umami, which has no import tool. Umami Cloud imports past data on Pro and up, from CSV files or a self-hosted Umami database, and Umami's team runs the import for you.
Plausible also has a free self-hosted Community Edition. Our guide to Umami vs Plausible, self-hosted compares the two side by side. If you're still on GA4, read Umami vs Google Analytics: what to export from GA4 first.
Stay on Umami Cloud if
Your traffic fits the free Hobby plan, or you send under about 3 million events and would rather pay for Pro than run a server.
Stay on Plausible or Fathom if
Your bill sits below about $86 to $151 a month, depending on whether upkeep would take you one hour or two, and you'd rather keep your history where it is. Agencies on Fathom do well too, since one $100 plan covers 100 client sites.
Run Umami on your own server if
You send more than about 3 million events a month, or you want replays and heatmaps without a $200 plan and history with no expiry, and someone can give it an hour or two a month.
Analytics pricing FAQs
How much does Plausible cost per month?
Billed monthly, Plausible starts at $9 for 10,000 pageviews on Starter. At 100,000 pageviews it's $19 on Starter, $29 on Growth and $39 on Business. Paying yearly gets you 12 months for the price of 10, and above 10 million pageviews Plausible quotes a custom price.
How much does Umami Cloud cost?
Past the free Hobby plan, Pro covers up to 20 websites and 1 million events for $20 a month, then $0.00003 for each extra event. Business is $200 for 10 million events, unlimited websites, session replays and heatmaps, then $0.00002 an event. Umami Cloud bills monthly only.
Is Umami free?
Self-hosted Umami is free. It's open source under the MIT license, so you pay only for the server it runs on. Umami's pricing page says self-hosting is always free.
What happens if I go over my plan?
On Plausible, two months over your tier brings an upgrade request, and dashboards lock a week later if you don't move, though collection carries on. Fathom emails you first and only pauses dashboards if you stay well over. Umami Cloud keeps collecting on Pro and Business and bills each extra event. It doesn't say what happens past Hobby's 100,000.
