DreamHost Announcements Website Builder

New Remixer Feature Exports Your Site to WordPress

Written by Ralph Castro

Website builders often don’t allow easy portability. What exactly does portability mean, you ask?

When it comes to websites, portability refers to the ability to easily move your site and its contents from one place to another.

Website builders can be an excellent and lasting solution for your website needs. In other cases, however, there might come a time when migrating to another platform with a different set of features is necessary to help you reach your goals.

DreamHost understands the importance in making that growth process as seamless as possible with our latest feature release. You can now export your Remixer website directly into WordPress — the platform powering nearly 31 percent of the internet!

We designed our website builder, Remixer, so anyone can get their dream website published and live as quickly as possible. All you do is choose a theme or use the create feature to begin developing your site. Then it’s just a matter of replacing the text and images with your own content. Easy!

Let us help you build your dream website. Set up a Remixer site today!

As your site grows and matures, however, you might need to expand your toolkit. For dynamic content and plugins that can provide nearly any website functionality, WordPress is the best tool for the job. As a web host that fully supports the Open Web and WordPress, we think the platform is the natural next step for Remixer users looking for increased functionality and more complex menu structures.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce this long-awaited export feature!

So how’d we do it? Our beta release relies heavily on the newly released Gutenberg project, a major visual overhaul of WordPress’ WYSIWYG text editor. Gutenberg now makes it easy for users to update their WordPress site via drag-and-drop building blocks. We used these Gutenberg blocks to match Remixer’s web section system.

Gutenberg has been a bit of a moving target, so we will continue to refine how everything ties together. Your feedback will be vital to improving the Remixer-to-WordPress experience. Shared hosting customers can now give the beta release a try — you can create a Remixer site to export using your same DreamHost credentials. Then tell us what you think at remixer@dreamhost.com.

Not a shared customer? Don’t worry, we’ll be rolling the feature out to more groups in the coming weeks.

With your feedback and the innovative efforts of our development team, DreamHost’s goal is to be the go-to place for not only starting your website but allowing it to grow over time. Don’t get locked into your website builder — make sure it can export and grow to match your needs!
