What Becoming a Nominet Member Means
Based in Oxford, England, Nominet manages everything related to the United Kingdom’s top level domains, including co.uk, org.uk, me.uk, .wales and .cymru. With over 10 million domains registered, it’s one of the largest and most trusted registries in the world, and home to many of the UK’s best-known sites, including the BBC, The Telegraph, Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, and many other businesses across the country.
Joining Nominet allows us to play a more active role in shaping the future of the UK domain space, ensuring that it remains secure, accessible, and responsive to the needs of creators, entrepreneurs, and businesses.
Why It Matters
As someone who has lived in the UK for most of my life, I can confidently say that the .uk top level domain represents trust and credibility for individuals and organizations within and outside the United Kingdom. More than 120,000 .uk domains are registered each month, with renewal rates around 79%, proving its continued relevance for both local and global audiences.
By becoming a member, we’re joining Nominet’s mission to enhance security, reduce abuse, and promote innovation across the .uk domain space. We’ll also be able to provide valuable feedback from our customers, helping improve the experience for domain owners worldwide.

This membership slots right in to our broader international growth strategy. Earlier this year, we opened a new data center in Amsterdam to better serve our European customers, and becoming a Nominet voting member builds on that momentum.
