DreamCon Speaker Series #10: Matt Felten

Let’s talk about time. Time is something we all wish we had more of. And online is no different than the real world.

What’s this term “responsive” I keep hearing about? What does a “Bootstrap” do? Why do I want “LESS” CSS?  That sounds “Sass”y! Most importantly, how will these things save me time?

At DreamCon, I’m going to talk about how to save time, both for your website’s visitors and for you as you’re designing and building your website. There are new guidelines, frameworks, tips and tricks coming out every day. I’ll walk you through them so you know what you should and shouldn’t be doing to your site.

What do you do at DreamHost?

I’m a designer working on the Product and Development team. I get to bounce around between all the new fun products we’re launching and work on the user flows and front-end interfaces.

What projects do you work on? What do you do on a regular basis?

The biggest project I’ve worked on here has been the DreamObject section in the admin panel. More recently, I’ve had a hand in the Stop The Hacker page. I’m usually neck deep in either wireframes or HTML/CSS/Javascript.

What’s one interesting fact we don’t know about you?

I’ve never seen Top Gun or any of the Back to the Future movies.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest?

Twitter, Instagram and Vine –in that order.

What shows are on your DVR?

The Killing just started, so I’m currently obsessed with that. Mad Men is on but is close to ending…so *sad.* The Newsroom is starting later this month, which will be exciting.

What’s your go-to cocktail?

At a dive, I usually go with Gin and Pineapple or some sort of straight bourbon. I loves me a good Old Fashioned though!
